YouTube deep links
A ZRO YouTube deep link opens videos, channels, playlists in the YouTube app, on iPhone and Android, even when the tap starts inside another app’s browser.
What a YouTube deep link opens
- Videos
- Channels
- Playlists
- youtu.be short links
Music links on music.youtube.com are treated as ordinary web links.
What happens on each device
- iPhone
- On an iPhone, ZRO opens the link in the YouTube app with its own youtube:// link.
- Android
- ZRO opens the YouTube app by its package name, com.google.android.youtube. If the app is not installed, the visitor gets the website.
- Computer
- There is no app to open, so the visitor gets the YouTube website. The tap is still counted.

This is generated from a sample YouTube address by the same code that handles real taps.

How do I make a YouTube deep link?
Paste any YouTube link into ZRO and share the short link it gives you. When someone taps it on an iPhone or an Android phone, it opens in the YouTube app. On a computer it opens the website.
Does a YouTube deep link work from inside Instagram, TikTok or Facebook?
Yes. ZRO recognises the in-app browser and steps out of it. On an iPhone it opens the YouTube app first and falls back to Safari. On Android it opens the app through its package.
What happens if YouTube is not installed?
The visitor lands on the YouTube website instead of an error. ZRO records the tap, so you can see how many people could not open the app.
What can a YouTube deep link open?
Videos, Channels, Playlists, youtu.be short links. Music links on music.youtube.com are treated as ordinary web links.
Can I see how many people opened the YouTube app?
Yes. Your dashboard shows Yield, the share of taps on phones that ended with the app open, along with where each tap came from and which outcome it had.
